The one and only Karla James
One of the most-common questions we get from website members and readers is, "How do you find your girls?" Let's face it: Girls who are big enough for SCORELAND are not common, but somehow, most of them find their way onto our websites and into our magazines. Sometimes, models find out about us through friends (boyfriends, husbands or otherwise) who are readers or members (such was the case with readers' wives Kelly Christiansen and Siri, among others). Sometimes, models are referred to us by other photographers (such was the case with Nicole Peters). Sometimes, our recruiters will find a girl when they're out and about. Sometimes, girls discover us through BeASCOREModel.com. And sometimes, we find out about models through websites where girls post their photos and information in the hopes of becoming an adult model. Such was the case with Karla James, who had posted her photos on a British models site. Karla was living in her hometown of Yorkshire, England and working as a beauty therapist when we discovered her in 2010. She had done a little non-nude glamour modeling, and even though she was aware that her body was exceptional, she didn't anticipate the superstardom that would greet her when she debuted as the covergirl of the September '10 all-naturals issue of SCORE. "I never thought of myself as anything special," Karla said, echoing a phrase we've heard from so many girls who really are special. "I'm a bit quiet and shy. I don't like strutting my stuff and performing in public." But with G-cup naturals and a 42-30-38 body, Karla can't help but draw attention wherever she goes. Of course, when she appeared on that Sept. '10 cover under the headline, "THE NEXT LINSEY DAWN McKENZIE IS HERE!" she attracted the wrong kind of attention. You see, big-boob lovers are very serious about tits, and Linsey Dawn McKenzie is a big-tit legend. Even though readers appreciated Karla's face and body, they didn't appreciate that we had the temerity to compare a brand-new girl--a novice--to the great LDM. And they took out their displeasure on Karla, who finished far behind in the voting for 2011 Newcomer of the Year when under any other conditions, she probably would have won. The funny thing was, it wasn't Karla's fault. She never boasted, "I'm the next LDM." Karla has tremendous respect for LDM, who's also a native of England, and understood what that comparison meant. Kinda like a rookie arriving in the NBA and being compared to Michael Jordan. Not yet, buddy...you've got something to prove. Of course, it doesn't matter if Karla is the next LDM. What matters is that she's spectacular, something SCORE readers acknowledged when they voted her one of the 20 greatest naturals of all-time. Which she is. And, one day, another girl like Karla will come along, and maybe we'll find her the same way we found Karla. But we won't call her "the next Karla James." It's an indication of how far Karla has come that boob lovers would react to that the same way as they did the last time we called somebody "the next."
