Cindy Cupps: Bras, Toys & Lotion

"I was quiet. Shy. I was a good student. I was in honor societies and on the principal's roll. I belonged to the Arista club, which was a group for students with the top 10% grades. I never joined any sports teams, but I liked to play volleyball." Cindy became an exotic dancer at 18, fresh out of high school. "It was very, very scary. I was very naïve about dancing and just went head-on into it. I didn't know what to do. When I think back, it was kinda comical. They told me I had to wear break-away bottoms. I had no clue what break-away bottoms were. "I went out to Frederick's of Hollywood and bought a bra and full-back bottoms with strings on the side that I could just untie. It was the most ridiculous thing. And that was my first day. It was horrible. But the other girls took me under their wings and they taught me, so I started feeling more comfortable. But my first day was a disaster." Today, dancers without tattoos are rare. Cindy never felt they were for her. "I don't like tattoos. I think they're silly. Some people go overboard with them. I was never that kind of person. Maybe a small one on the ankle might be all right. I see girls that have them all down their backs. What's going to happen twenty years down the road when their skin is not as firm as it is now? They're going to look horrible. And my only piercing is my navel."
